Testing Our Road Frame Far Beyond Tarmac – Crans Montana Edition

At Humbl, we don’t just build bikes — we build belief. Our journey always starts where others would call it a day. Paved roads are great, but we’ve never been fans of staying inside the lines. This latest shoot and test session was all about pushing the boundaries: of our frames, of the components we trust, and of what a “road bike” is truly capable of.

Built to Go Beyond

For this ride, we took our first size L production sample of the new road frame and built it with a Dura-Ace setup, SwissSide Hadron Ultimate 380 wheels, and Vittoria Terreno Zero 32mm tyres — running tubes at 4 bar pressure. Not your typical road bike build? Exactly the point.

We trust our partners and suppliers to build parts that can handle real-world extremes — and they trust us to feed back what we learn from testing. Because it’s not just about performance. It’s about durability, confidence, and finding the limits (if there are any).

A Playground with No Rules

We chose Crans Montana, the birthplace of the Humbl idea, for this test. It gave us everything we needed: steep alpine gravel, forgotten ski resort roads, the legendary Suonen paths, and high-altitude terrain that most road bikes would never dream of.

By the end of the day — 2300 meters above sea level, caked in snowmelt, mud, and dust — we were tired but thrilled. Not only did the bike survive, it shone. We captured it all in a wild photo shoot that was equal parts chaos and creativity.

One Frame. Endless Possibilities.

What we proved once again is that this one frame isn’t just a road frame — it’s an everything frame.

• Build it up as an aero weapon with deep rims and extensions for tri or TT.

• Strip it down to 6.8kg for mountain stages and alpine races.

• Throw on bigger tyres and explore forest trails or forgotten gravel climbs.

And if you find yourself at 2300m, lost in an abandoned ski resort, surrounded by melting snow? This bike won’t blink. It just asks, “what’s next?”

The Aftermath

The only thing this bike demanded was a serious clean when we got home — and we were more than happy to give it one.

Unser Road-Rahmen im Härtetest – Crans Montana Edition

Bei Humbl bauen wir nicht einfach nur Fahrräder – wir bauen Vertrauen. Für uns beginnt das Abenteuer dort, wo andere längst umkehren. Unser neuestes Fotoshooting war gleichzeitig ein Testlauf – und zwar unter echten Bedingungen. Es ging darum, Grenzen auszuloten: des Rahmens, der Komponenten, und des Konzepts „Rennrad“ an sich.

Gebaut, um mehr zu können

Wir haben unser erstes Serienmuster in Größe L genommen, aufgebaut mit Shimano Dura-Ace, SwissSide Hadron Ultimate 380 Laufrädern und Vittoria Terreno Zero 32mm Reifen – mit Schlauch und 4 bar Druck. Kein typischer Road-Setup? Genau das war die Idee.

Wir vertrauen unseren Partnern auf ganzer Linie – und sie uns. Denn wir liefern echtes Feedback. Es geht nicht nur um Leistung, sondern auch um Zuverlässigkeit, Robustheit und Vertrauen in jedes einzelne Teil.

Ein Test ohne Regeln

Getestet und geshootet haben wir dort, wo alles begann: in Crans Montana. Von grobem Alpenschotter über verlassene Skiwege, entlang der legendären Suonen – wir wollten wissen, was der Rahmen wirklich kann.

Am Ende des Tages, auf über 2300 m, zwischen Schnee, Schmelzwasser und Dreck, war klar: Er kann mehr als wir dachten. Und das hat nicht nur unsere Ausrüstung, sondern auch uns selbst überrascht.

Ein Rahmen. Unzählige Möglichkeiten.

Diese eine Plattform kann so ziemlich alles:

• Als Aero-Waffe mit 80 mm Laufrädern und Extensions für Triathlon oder Zeitfahren

• Als Ultraleicht-Bergziege mit 6.8 kg für schnelle Anstiege und technische Abfahrten

• Oder als Gravel-Explorer, wenn der Asphalt aufhört und der Spass beginnt

Selbst wenn du dich plötzlich auf einem verlassenen Skihang über 2000 m wiederfindest – dieses Rad bringt dich weiter.

Das Einzige, was es danach brauchte?

Eine gründliche Wäsche 😉
